DC CAP Scholars Announces New Partnership with ASU Local — Expanding College Options for Students Beginning in the 2026 Application Season
Washington, D.C. — The DC College Access Program (DC CAP Scholars) is proud to welcome ASU Local as a new university partner. Beginning with the 2025/2026 application season, ASU Local will be available as a new option for students applying through DC CAP’s University Partnership program, expanding flexible, high-quality pathways to college degrees here in the District.
Since 2019, ASU Local has reimagined the college experience by blending online coursework with in-person support, career readiness, and community engagement for students who want to stay close to home. The model is built on Arizona State University’s national reputation for innovation and student success, serving a student community that is overwhelmingly first-generation — reinforcing DC CAP’s commitment to our community and to our scholars’ success.
“We are thrilled to welcome ASU Local into our University Partnership network,” said Eric Waldo, President & CEO of DC CAP. “This partnership creates another strong, flexible, student-centered pathway to a meaningful degree for our scholarship students. I’ve been so impressed with ASU Local’s outcomes and mission-aligned efforts in our community.”
“We look forward to working with DC CAP to continue reimagining flexible and innovative approaches to higher education, and to better serve students across Washington, DC,” said Ina Seok, Interim Executive Director of ASU Local and Director of the ASU Student Success Center.
This partnership strengthens DC CAP’s ability to meet students where they are, offering a college experience that supports academic progress, builds professional skills, and helps students stay rooted in the communities they call home.
