The Alpha Leadership Project acknowledges that young men need strong role models in their lives to aid in their decision making process. To make the process more convenient, a website has been created to give the mentor a creative way to support this initiative. The mentors participate in weekly discussions, supporting academic achievement, and encouraging cultural exchanges.
Mentors must be at least 24 years of age, have acquired at least a 2 year college degree, and pass a background check before they can be matched with a student. ALP Mentors must reside in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. Even though a large percentage of the work will be online, mentors will be encouraged to attend school functions and field trips. Mentors must be professional, caring, and committed to helping our young men to understand the benefits of education. We hope that any ALP Mentor candidate would be willing to volunteer for at least one year even though a longer service time would be encouraged.
