Support-A-Student
You can support the mission of DC-CAP by directly helping a student get through college life. Here are few opportunities for you:
Pocket-Change Pals
Going to college can be very stressful. A student not only has to adjust to being away from home but also must learn how to deal with class work and manage their everyday life.
So, every once in a while it is important to take a break from the pressures of college life. Every once in a while a student should be able to go see a movie, buy a new CD or even order a pizza to share with their roommate. Unfortunately, for many college students who are on a tight budget, even the cost of a movie is unaffordable. A little pocket change would really come in handy!
As a Pocket-Change Pal, you can help a student who cannot afford even the little
things that make college life enjoyable. Through DC-CAP, you can
direct $100 or more each month to an individual student for miscellaneous
expenses such as movie tickets, CDs or pizza. To become a Pocket-Change
Pal, please contact the DC-CAP main office at 202-783-7933 or by
E-mail: dccapinfo@dccap.org.
Computer Donation Program
These days, having a computer while in college is a necessity. Students need computers to do research, to communicate with their professors and to complete their class assignments. Today, many colleges and universities require students to bring computers to school.
Unfortunately, the cost of a computer can be more than the family of a new
college student can afford. You can help these students by donating
a boxed, new or used (less than 18 months old) computer (desktop
or laptop), modem and printer to a new student enrolling in college.
To donate a computer, please contact the DC-CAP main office
at 202-783-7933 or by E-mail: dccapinfo@dccap.org.
