Parent Student Luncheon

Each fall (November or December), in an effort to encourage parents to actively participate in helping their young people enroll in and graduate from college, DC-CAP hosts two (2) Senior/Parent Luncheons with 1,200 attendees each.  The families are provided a workshop on how to finance their college education.  DC-CAP provides high school students and their parents with pertinent financial aid information so they are able to navigate the pending needs of their graduating high school students. Also in attendance are speakers on Federal Financial Aid, Office of the State Superintendent of Education, and College Savings plans to speak with parents and students.

Following the conference portion, students and parents are treated to a luncheon and have an opportunity to socialize.  Prizes are presented to the student winners of the "Why I Want to Go to College" essay contest.  The event is the first of many opportunities for parents to receive assistance with the financial aid application process.  Individual and smaller group sessions are available by contacting the advisors within the student's high school.
