Making College a Reality for Thousands of District Students

DC-CAP is a non-profit organization working in partnership with the District of Columbia Public and Public Charter School Systems that provides counseling and financial assistance to students who might otherwise never have the opportunity to attend or graduate from college.

Preparing for College

Each DC public and public charter high school student has access to a College Information Resource Center and DC-CAP Advisor within their school. Each student is eligible to receive college preparation and planning services to ensure future success with the college process.

College Student Support Services

While enrolled in college, DC-CAP students receive counseling and support services provided to ensure timely graduation from a college or university. With the support of the College Retention Advisors and support staff, college graduation rates have greatly increased since our inception in 1999.

Supporting your College Student

DC-CAP provides a multitude of workshops and planning sessions to assist parents and families with the guidance needed to assist family members in the educational process. Financial aid workshops, parent informational sessions and family planning sessions are just some of the ways that families receive support.

The DC-CAPital Stars Talent Competition is a fun-filled night of performances which gives DC high school students the opportunity to compete in vocal, dance or instrumental categories to earn scholarship money. View the recorded performance from March 26, 2013.
